Images might not show up, menus might be out of place, and text boxes could be jumbled together. This can be caused by a compatibility problem between\u00a0Internet\u00a0Explorer\u00a0and the site you\u2019re on. When a site is incompatible with\u00a0Internet\u00a0Explorer, you\u2019ll see the Compatibility View button in the Address bar. (If you don\u2019t see the button, there\u2019s no need to turn on Compatibility View.)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Tap or click the\u00a0Compatibility View\u00a0button\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Compatibility View button\" src=\"http:\/\/res1.windows.microsoft.com\/resbox\/en\/internet%20explorer\/main\/be5bd780-55db-4820-9e96-3e0b7bca3f41_8.png\" alt=\"Compatibility View button\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" data-id=\"pageContainer0_ID0EBAAIBA\" loading=\"lazy\">\u00a0to display the site in Compatibility View.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>Once you turn on Compatibility View,\u00a0Internet\u00a0Explorer\u00a0will automatically show that site in Compatibility View each time you visit. You can turn it off by tapping or clicking the button\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Compatibility View button\" src=\"http:\/\/res1.windows.microsoft.com\/resbox\/en\/internet%20explorer\/main\/a83b432d-b8ae-4a69-a8bc-a579b5f8422c_8.png\" alt=\"Compatibility View button\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" data-id=\"pageContainer0_ID0EBHBA\" loading=\"lazy\">\u00a0again. Or, you can clear the entire list of sites using Compatibility View by deleting your browsing history.<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>To clear the list of Compatibility View sites<\/h3>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>Open\u00a0Internet\u00a0Explorer\u00a0in the desktop.<\/li>\n<li>Press the Alt key to display the Menu bar (or press and hold the Address bar and then select\u00a0Menu bar).<\/li>\n<li>Tap or click\u00a0Tools, and then tap or click\u00a0Delete browsing history.<\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0Delete Browsing History\u00a0dialog box, tap or click the\u00a0History\u00a0check box, and then tap or click\u00a0Delete.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Not all website display problems are caused by browser incompatibility. Interrupted Internet connections, heavy traffic, or problems with the website can also affect how a page is displayed. If you\u2019re having other problems on a site, such as playing videos.<\/p>\n<p>The Compatibility List is frequently updated, and\u00a0Internet\u00a0Explorer\u00a0automatically downloads these update. This list includes sites that might have been designed for older or other browsers, sites that use\u00a0Adobe\u00a0Flash Player, and other settings that help give you a better browsing experience.
